Sessions
When you have added people to the squad, you can create a session. A session is a meeting, practice, event or class where you want to organize the people in teams.
The session overview shows only upcoming sessions on the first tab. To see previous sessions, click the All sessions tab to see the full list.
Create session
To create a session:
- Click the "Create session" button.
- Select the squad that you want to create the session for in the dropdown list.
- Enter the session title.
- Select session date.
- Select participants. This lists shows all members of the squad. By default all members are checked. Uncheck the people that are not participating in the session. You can also set the strength value for each participant for just that session. This value is not saved permanently for the person in the squad, it is only used for the current session.
- Click the "Save session" button. After save you will be redirect to the session planning page.
Edit session
From the list of sessions you can edit the session by clicking the Edit session button. This is used to change title, date or participants for the session. You cannot change squad on an existing session. Then the session needs to be deleted and created with the correct squad.
Session planning
When you have created a session you can plan the session by generating teams and set the session settings.
Description
Here you can enter the session description. For instance the session excercies for the sports team, the agenda for the class or the program for the event.
Session team setup
When you have set the session description you can generate the teams for the session. Click the Add team setup button to start the team generation.
How many teams
Select how many teams that should be generated. You can create more than one team setup for a session, so if you need four teams for one excercise and two teams for another excercise, you create two team setups, one with four teams, and one with two teams. All participants are evenly distributed over all teams.
How to setup teams
Teams can be setup manually, or be generated for you with different kinds of randomization.
Options
- Manual teams
- You add team mebers manually from the list of session particpants
- Random teams
- Teams are generated for you totally random, the participants strength value is not taken into account.
- Weighted random teams
- Teams are generated weighted by each participants strength value. This is to create randomized teams where all teams will have similar strength, with stronger and weaker players mixed together.
- Strength matched random teams
- This generates teams that are evenly matched in pairs. For example, if you select 4 teams, you will get 2 teams with the strongest players, and two teams with the weaker players. This is best suited to be used with an even number of teams. For instance teams that are supposed to play each other during practice and players should be challenged on their own level.
At the bottom of the team you can see the strength average and median, to see if teams are reasonably matched by strength.
Save session
When you are satisfied with the teams you can save the session.
Share session
You can share the session plan to your fellow coaches, colleagues or friends by clicking the Share session button. It will provide a text based version of the session plan.
Templates
Templates can be used to store session descriptions for reuse in session planning. For instance, the sports team can store different sets of practice drills to quickly plan practice sessions.
Created templates can be selected when editing the session description when planning the session. Session descriptions can be saved as a new template or used to update an existing template when planning session.
